| The company has its origin in a sole proprietorship business founded in 1991 by the company's president, Howard S. Perkins, who is continually engaged in the construction of custom outdoor items such as decks, gazebos, and marinas. The company grew and diversified to roofing, siding, room additions, and various remodeling endeavors. Concentrating in the upscale developments of Kingsmill, Governor's Land, and Ford's Colony in the Williamsburg area, the company became the premier cedar shake and shingle installer in the area by 1995. |

To meet the expanded scope and volume, the company incorporated by drawing family members into the business. Howard's father, Claude D. Perkins, Jr., a retired military officer (Colonel, US Army) and semi-retired management consultant serves as Vice President. Barbara L. Perkins, Howard's mother and former teacher, serves as Secretary/Treasurer. Howard's brother John S. Perkins serves as a Director, completing the Virginia Woodcrafts, Inc., ownership.
